There are scenes that stay with you long after the credits roll.
For me, The Spy’s Goodbye is one of them.
Hunter and Bobbi know exactly what they're giving up. They make the choice they have to make to protect their friends and S.H.I.E.L.D., but knowing it's the right choice doesn't make walking away any easier. What makes the scene hit so hard isn't really the goodbye.
It's the table they belong to.
The table is surrounded by people who became more than coworkers, teammates, or friends. It's belonging somewhere. It's knowing that, if circumstances were different, there isn't another place you'd rather be.
That's the feeling I want Rendezvous Comics to have.
Comics bring people together in ways that have very little to do with the price printed on a cover. We remember the books that changed us. We argue about characters. We hunt for that missing issue. We meet artists and writers whose work has lived in our heads for years. We show somebody a book we love and hope they see in it some of what we saw.
And somewhere along the way, strangers stop being strangers.
That's the community we're building here.
Not simply a place to buy comics, but a table worth sitting at—and the kind of place you don't want to leave.
That's what community can feel like.
A shared passion can introduce us. The stories can bring us together. But the people are what make us stay.
